Bee Happy!

Hello crafters!

I’ve been wanting to sit down and make some bee themed cards for a while. It’s one of my favourite themes to work with. I’m not sure if it’s the bees, the hexagons, the bold colours or what.. I just love them!

For these 4 cards, I kept all of the sentiments the exact same and all of the bees the exact same, and changed up the techniques and tools for the backgrounds. Let’s go through them one at a time:

For this one I used a the honeycomb die from the Studio Light Industrial 3.0 collection. I inked up the die and instead of die cutting it, used a rubber embossing mat to make an inky impression.

This card used a similar technique, but instead of inking up a die, I dabbed ink on the embossing folder before running it through. I then used a bit of the same ink to fill in some of the honeycombs.

I used the same Studio Light die for this card, but instead of making an impression, I actually die cut it. I saved some of the honeycombs (which would make awesome confetti!) and placed them back into the die cut.

Last but not least, my favourite of the bunch! I embossed the yellow cardstock with a honeycomb embossing folder and trimmed off the left edge, following the pattern. I used a yellow alcohol marker to trace the left and top inside edges of the impression to give more depth. I also highlighted each honeycomb with a white gel pen. I love how this one turned out and I’m sure it will be the hardest one to send out!

The bees were all created in Cricut Design Space, although I forgot to jot down the cartridge name!

All cards were accented with various colours of Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Thanks so much for looking!
